Diabetes Signs

Diabetes doesn't just sneek up on you--there are many warning signs. There was a lady a few months ago that said she caught diabetes the other day at home. She explained that she had spilled a bag of sugar on her foot and that was how she caught it.

Needless to say, you don't 'catch' diabetes. Type 2 diabetes typically has many warning signs and there is something you can do about it. Type 1 diabetes also has warning signs, but there isn't much you can do to prevent type 1 diabetes. Research is still ongoing and sooner or later we will all know the exact triggers to diabetes. knowing the triggers, we will all be better able to prevent the onset of this disease.

Below is a synopsis of warning signs for diabetes and effective preventative measures that you can take before you actually are diagnosed with diabetes.

Diabetes - The Early Warning Signs of Diabetes
By Renata Nyleve

Diabetes is a very serious disease that affects millions of people in America. Diabetes is directly related to a hormone called insulin. Whenever the body does not make enough insulin or if the body does not use the insulin right a way, the result is diabetes. You should not go without treatment for the disease because it can result in strokes, kidney failure, blindness, amputations, and heart attacks. There are some early warning signs of diabetes that you should be aware of.

One symptom is excessive thirst. There could be a problem when you are drinking more fluids than you normally do, but you still are unable to quench your thirst. Excessive thirst is usually accompanied by another symptom, which is frequent urination. You need to drink more because your body is removing extra water from your blood, which makes you feel dehydrated. The frequent urination is the result of too much glucose in your blood.

Weight loss is another symptom. The body begins to break down fat and muscle tissue for energy because the body's cells are not producing glucose. Weakness and fatigue are also associated with the disease. Glucose is used for energy and is suppose to transition into the cells of your body, but it is unable to do that without the help of insulin. Since the glucose is not able to enter the bloodstream, the body becomes energy starved.

Neuropathy, which is tingling or numbness in your hands, legs, or feet, is another symptom to be aware of. It is also important to be aware of blurry vision, repeated infections or cuts and bruises that have a long healing time, and skin that is dry or itchy.

Final Tip: The treatments for diabetes are not always the same, by researching and comparing the different new diabetes treatments
